Jorge Lugo
Jorge Lugo joined Vishay in April 2020 as a Market Development Manager for the Americas. Jorge has over 17 years’ experience in the Electronics industry. Prior to joining Vishay, Jorge worked at Dish Technologies as a Sr. Engineer customer where he spent 13 years developing numerous Dish Network products including the industry leading family of ‘Hopper’ Set-top box receivers. Jorge holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP – Go Miners, 2007).
Vince Avelar
Vince Avelar is a Field Applications Engineer for Vishay Intertechnology. Vince received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo. He initially worked as a service engineer in the power conversion industry and then became an applications engineer for a power supply company. Vince has been with Vishay for over 2 years and is responsible for application engineering and business development in the West Coast of the Americas and Mexico for all Vishay’s automotive products.
Ricardo Olivares
Ricardo Olivares joined Vishay in July 2023 as a market development engineer for the Americas. He has over 12 years of experience in the electronics and distribution industry. Prior to joining Vishay, Mr. Olivares worked as a technical sales engineer. In this role, he spent six years developing applications for customers in Mexico across a variety of markets, including industrial, automotive, and consumer. Previously, as applications engineer for Freescale/NXP Semiconductors, he supported automotive OEMs around the world. Mr. Olivares holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in biomedical electronic engineering from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara (UAG - 2013).

Avnet and Vishay Enable FreePower’s Next-Gen Wireless Charging Innovation
Surface Charger
Customer Background:
FreePower (Aira Power) is an innovative technology company specializing in wireless charging solutions for consumer and commercial applications. Their Next Gen 3 Countertop Surface Charger is designed to deliver seamless, multi-device charging with advanced power management.
Opportunity & Actions Taken:
During the design phase of the Next Gen 3 Countertop Surface Charger, layout and component changes created a need for optimized MOSFET solutions. Avnet’s Account Manager, Liz Bevan, and Vishay’s Technical District Sales Manager, Grant Dixon, collaborated closely with FreePower’s engineering team, recommending Vishay’s SIR610DP-T1-RE3 MOSFET for its superior performance and efficiency. Vishay supported the process by providing samples for evaluation, ensuring technical alignment and timely feedback.
Outcome:
The Vishay MOSFET was approved and successfully added to the BOM with no alternates listed—solidifying Vishay as the preferred solution. With an estimated annual usage of 50K units initially, scaling to 200K, production is scheduled for Q2 2026. This opportunity represents approximately $2.4 million in revenue. Avnet will partner with CM Shenzhen Honor to pipeline inventory and meet production demands, ensuring a smooth rollout for this next-generation product.
Vishay and Avnet Rebuild Trust with NGC
⚠️ Opportunities or Issues
Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) was seeking high-reliability resistors for a long-term, government-funded military/aerospace project. However, Vishay’s M55342 resistor line had previously faced significant supply constraints, resulting in long lead times (LTs) and lost design opportunities to competitors.
❇️ Solutions
Vishay responded by strategically increasing production capacity for the M55342 product line as part of its Vishay 3.0 initiative.
This effort led to:
- Improved lead times
- More competitive pricing
- Renewed focus on winning back key business
With these enhancements in place, Vishay and Avnet reintroduced the M55342 resistors to NGC at an opportune time. Thanks to strong existing relationships, NGC engineers agreed to re-evaluate the product. Although already qualified to MIL spec standards, the resistors are now undergoing internal qualification at NGC for inclusion in their approved parts database.

How Teamwork Won Back $500K in Business
⚠️ Opportunities or Issues
Vishay was facing significant competition from State of the Art at a customer in New York. Vishay had lost business due to factors such as: resistive film construction preference, lead time issues, and price competitiveness.
❇️ Solutions
One of Vishay’s East Coast sales reps saw an opportunity to help Vishay re-enter the account but needed to push for more detailed information to open the door for quoting 55342 opportunities. Through much perseverance and divisional support, Vishay and the sales rep were able to position Avnet with best pricing and delivery.
👍 Customer Benefits
The customer was impressed with the service they received and as a result, placed $500K in Vishay 55342 technologies through Avnet. The total team effort from the sales rep, Avnet, and Vishay Dale helped seal the deal. Because of the customer-first minded approach, the team was able to meet the customer demands.
To replicate this success, please arrange meetings with AMS customers and ask the question “Do you use State of the Art, Mini-Systems, or TTe/IRC?” If the customer responds with “Yes”, the next steps would be to obtain a list of competitor part numbers and work with the Dale division to cross and secure the business. Vishay Dale is hungry to service the market and will ensure that price, lead time, and customer demands are met.
